12 May On Doers
So as I was working late last night I received an email from a friend by the name of Michael Tavani, who some of you may be familiar with as the Co-founder of Atlanta-based company Scoutmob. Scoutmob (which is now in 13 Cities and growing) was created as a way to connect with consumers through daily email, website and a mobile platform aimed to give consumers huge deals on great local businesses, as well as a connection to their local scene. Michael is a true Entrepreneur to his core who has a love for building startups, which I learned when I had the opportunity to interview him for CNN.
Micahel shared a passion project with me, the has been working on and I immediately thought was great! Maybe I’ve got this Entrepreneurship bug bad, but I love to hear stories of regular individuals who do extraordinary things and that’s exactly what Michael shared. The project is called “On Doers“. For the first episode, Michael talked to serial startup founder David Cummings one week after he sold his company Pardot for $100 million to Exact Target in 2012. Check it out:
Many people talk about what they want to do, are planning to do or what they wish they could do, but I truly believe only about 20% of the population actually does it. Sure it’s easy to think about success, but a lot harder to actually achieve it, especially if the only place you are working on it is in your mind. Websters Dictionary defines “Doers” as a person who acts rather than merely talking or thinking. The key is to act or execute your plan rather than mulling over it waiting for the right moment. If we understand what to do and how to do it, it’s then time to execute! We will never know what we are truly capable of until we execute.
